In the last week or so, I've been busy making a couple of arabian halters. They are all finished and will be put on MH$P in the next few days.

Finished Work

I finished this order for a western bridle a while ago, I liked the way it turned out and so did the new owner!

Back On Track

I'm back in Holland with Nikita, and I'm making tack again. I'm working on a western bridle order and I did clean my desk beforehand but it never stays that way unfortunately..

Utterly Horses Hullabaloo Report - Sunday

Sunday was the last day of the UHH, we had booked our National Stud tour for 11.15 am that morning. It was a great tour, I learned a lot and saw some beautiful thoroughbreds. We were there in the most quiet time of the year, so there weren't a lot of horses. Afterwards we went to the medallion worshop by Kelly Savage, I really liked working on a medallion and I want to finish mine when I get back from Belgium (I will return to the Netherlands with Nikita on the 15th of September). Then after a roast dinner we headed back to our B&B for our last night, and took an early ferry back to Holland. If it al works out, I'd love to go back next year!

Utterly Horses Hullabaloo Report - Saturday

Saturday was the Open Liveshow day, I brought some horses and some performance setups. Showing in the UK is different from showing in the Netherlands, halter is more or less the same but the performance classes are different and judged in an other way. It was fun to show in a different country, I learned a lot!
Unfortunately, it started to rain in the afternoon, we were in a tent but the rain starten seeping in from the ground. Never had that happen before at a liveshow! After shifting some tables we continued.

Utterly Horses Hullabaloo Report - Friday

So, the UHH started on friday. We went to see the store and did some stablemate painting and also booked a National Stud tour for the Sunday. Then at 1 pm we went to the July course, which was next door, for a race meeting. I've always wanted to go to the horse races and finally I was able to. We wanted to get tickets for the Grandstand/Paddock Enclosure when someone gave us free tickets to the Premier Enclosure, that was so nice! Unfortunalty we were wearing jeans so we were not allowed in the Premier Enclosure but we still had a great time. I did some betting ofcourse, but was very unsuccesful.

Utterly Horses Hullabaloo Report - Thursday

Since I've been back for a few days it is now time for a report!

We arrived wednesday night and we were staying in a lovely inn in Glemsford, which is about a 45 minutes drive away from Newmarket. It was my very first time driving on the left, and I'd like to say I did pretty good and it was a lot of fun too! The event would start on Friday, so this was our 'day off'. We went to Newmarket and looked around and then decided to go to Cambridge as it was much closer then we thought it would be.

Hyperion, famous race horse infront of the Jockey Club and next to the National Horseracing Museum.

The National Horseracing Museum, we did not visit it so ! a good reason to come back.
Newmarket Highstreet, it was great driving around Newmarket, everything is horse! And you drive by all the stables, studs and gallops ect.

One of the colleges in Cambridge, they were amazing.

Getting ready for the UK

I came back from my vacation yesterday and today I'm packing my horses for the Utterly Horses Hullabaloo. I will be taking the ferry to Harwich tomorrow! As I'm still working in Belgium, I didn't have a lot of time to prepare for the performance classes. I did take some things with me to make when I visited home in July. On of those things were fabrics to make pony pouces. I figured they would take up less space when packing then towels and bubblewrap, which means more room in my suitcase for more models!

After I'm back from the UK, I will be staying in Belgium for another week. And then I will come back with Nikita. I've had a great time in Belgium, but it will be nice to be home again. And I will have more time for tack making and blogging.

News from Belgium!

Yes, I'm still in Belgium and I'm really enjoying it! I've made some beautiful trips with Nikita through hills, forests and fields. I think she likes it here.

I have some model news for you, I'll be going back to Holland for a weekend at the end of June. And I will be attending a liveshow while I'm there and at the end of August I will be going to England to the Utterly Horses Hullabaloo! I'm going with a friend who is also a horselover but she doesn't know much about the hobby, I hope she will like it. We will be attending all 3 days and the Open Show on saturday. I can't wait!

But first the liveshow in Holland, this will be the first time I don't have a dozen projects to finish before the liveshow. I did bring a model and some materials with me to Belgium, just enough to make some arabian halters. Which I will be selling when I'm back in Holland.

Away for a while!

I was given the opportunity to live in Belgium for 3 months and I took it! I've been here for 2 weeks now and it is awesome. Mostly because I'm staying and working at a resthome for horses and got to take my own horse along aswell, but also because the nature is beautiful here. Lots of great path to explore on horseback. :)

I did take a PAM with me and supplies to make arabian halters with, so I do still get to make some tack. But you'll see more real horse photos from me for a while.

Radio Silence

Sorry for the lack of posts, I've been working more and have not felt all too great in the last few weeks. But now it's time for some updates, because I have done something in those weeks.

I made my first western sidesaddle, here it is almost finished:

And just made these photos of the finished saddle:

Saddlepad and bridle are on their way

I have also, finally, finished a cm I started a long time ago. It's a G1 drafter with cm mane and tail by me.

Here is the reference I used, the model has more tones in the mane and tail but my camera just wouldn't capture them.

Oh, and I'm almost done with the second part of my arabian halter tutorial!

New Halters

Made some new type halters, leather showhalters! In a simpeler and deluxe style, they're very elegant.

black simpel leather halter

dark brown deluze leather halter, adjustable throatlatch and headpiece. There are keepers under the conchos so that's adjustable as well!
