2013 Review

I was thinking about what I have done and bought this year modelhorse wise and it came to 'not a lot'. Which is true, I only bought 2 horses and received a few as gifts, I made 3 saddles in a whole year and only went to 1 live show. I still had a good year, but I hope I have a bit more modelhorses in my life next year. :)

So for next year I would like to focus a bit more on photoshowing (since there are so few liveshows around here), make a least 1 new arabian costume and a arabian dancing costume, get some resins painted and try and make the western parade set that has been in my head for the last year or so. We'll see if I can do this, it will be a busy year (I want to start my own business as a saddler).

I hope you all have a great New Year!

Secret Santa!

I try and enter every year and this year was no exception. I'm talking about the Model Horse Blab Secret Santa. Its always so much fun shopping for someone you have never met, waiting for your box to arrive and also receiving gifst from abroad. I got to send gifts to England and in return received a box from Denmark.

As you can see I got some great gifts from 'Adios'!

Horses in Venice

During my stay in Croatia we also went to Venice, which was a 3 hour drive away. It was absolutely awesome! I'd love to go back and stay longer than a few hours. So beautiful!
I finally spotted some horses, but they weren't real live ones though.

Oh those masks were amazing, and there were some horse/unicorn ones too.

Lots of hippocampi, on buildings and gondolas

Lots of glaswork, I spotted a horse on sale for €7500!

And horses on the San Marco

Back to normal

It's been a few hectic months, but I made it! I started the saddlery course in October and had my exams in July, a written and a practical exam. I had to study hard and know a lot but I can now say that I am a 'Certified Master Saddle Fitting Consultant'!! The day after my exams I went on vacation and found out the results after a few days when I was in Croatia. I'm super pleased because of the 26 examtakers only 8 passed. Next week I'm starting year 2, which is all practical. I hope to show you a real size bridle made by me in 2 weeks!

Here are some pics I took during my stay in Istria, Croatia.

Next week I'll be going to Horse Event, and I'm hoping to take lots of pics. The week after I am going to a liveshow, finally, it's been more than a year since the last one!

NAN Weekend

I spent the past 3 days watching the livestream, refreshing facebook and keeping an eye out on the Model Horse Blab forum. It was NAN this weekend! Although I will probably never experience anything like NAN, I always have a lot of fun following all the updates and watching the photos ect.

I made these 2 pairs of boots while watching the livestream.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, with or without NAN.

Back On Track

I'm back in Holland with Nikita, and I'm making tack again. I'm working on a western bridle order and I did clean my desk beforehand but it never stays that way unfortunately..

Getting ready for the UK

I came back from my vacation yesterday and today I'm packing my horses for the Utterly Horses Hullabaloo. I will be taking the ferry to Harwich tomorrow! As I'm still working in Belgium, I didn't have a lot of time to prepare for the performance classes. I did take some things with me to make when I visited home in July. On of those things were fabrics to make pony pouces. I figured they would take up less space when packing then towels and bubblewrap, which means more room in my suitcase for more models!

After I'm back from the UK, I will be staying in Belgium for another week. And then I will come back with Nikita. I've had a great time in Belgium, but it will be nice to be home again. And I will have more time for tack making and blogging.

Sinterklaas!

Finally got time to post my Sinterklaas photos, I had to work 2 full days and today is my day off.

So, I had my mum as my giftee and she loves the Me to You bears, so that's what I made for her. I hid 2 of her presents in there, the rest went on the pile.

Rocky always enjoys Sinterklaas, he gets to tear up all of the giftwrappings.

After all the gifts had been unwrapped and we enjoyed the hot coca and cake, we started with the dice game. There was a nice big pile of gifts aswell and we had loads of fun.

I got some really nice things, no models or anything (I didn't ask for them) but I'm really happy with what I got.

What I've been doing this week..

Well, getting ready for Sinterklaas (see here if you don't know what I'm talking about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinterklaas)

We are celebrating Sinterklaas tomorrow, so I had lots of presents to buy, some for my giftee (it's a lot like Secret Santa) and some for the dicegame we're going to play. It involves lots of presents and chairs. :) You could compare it with musical chairs; each person buys some presents which will all go on 1 pile. When someone throws a 1 or 6 they get to take a present from the pile and unwrap it, that present belongs to the chair so when someone throws a 2,3,4 or 5 the persons move but the presents remain under the chairs. When all the presents are unwrapped and you throw a 1 or 6 you get to swap one of your presents with someone elses, and when the alarmclock rings the game is finished and the presents under the chair your're sitting on are yours!

Another thing I did this week was unpacking a new herd member:

Inglenook

And I made myself a new Winter Stablemate jump:

Fog & Lord of the Rings

It's been such a foggy week, all I see when I look out of my window is this:

When a take a few steps forward the rest comes into view:

I had to go out into the paddock to search for my horse

I went to Lord of the Rings in Concert yesterday, it was awesome! I'm a big soundtrack lover and this was one of the best ways to enjoy it.
